Salem Office reopens after fire

On May 23, 2026, a fire broke out, severely impacting our brand new training room, which had only been in use for a few days. Despite this setback, we are thrilled to share that most of the office reopened on Monday, June 15.

The City of Salem’s McNary Field Tower at the Salem Airport spotted the fire quickly and called it in, allowing emergency services to respond promptly. This quick action helped contain the damage and prevented the fire from spreading further.

Our tenant, the Oregon State Fire Marshal, experienced only minimal damage, mostly from water used to extinguish the fire. They were able to resume full operations quickly.

While the investigation into the fire’s cause is still ongoing, we are ready to move forward with rebuilding as soon as we receive the green light from our insurance company.

The fire recovery displaced Shangri-La's Life Enrichment Activities Program (LEAP) from their location within the office. The LEAP Crew was absolutely amazing in ensuring services continued and people stayed safe and engaged despite the displacement which meant pivoting servivces to the office's front patio area. They enjoyed the sunshine while waiting for transportation pick-ups, continued their scheduled community activities, and even had a few parking lot dance parties by blaring music from the LEAP vans.

An immense thank you to Pence Northwest Construction  for helping us navigate this challenge and to the City of Salem's McNary Field Tower for calling emergency services.
